Training in Taekwondo is made up of five basic disciplines:-
Basics - Martial arts techniques that are practiced without an opponent.
Patterns - A pattern of movements against an imaginary opponent.
Self Defence - Learning to defend yourself.
Sparring - Using taekwondo techniques against other students in a controlled manner.
Breaking - Using taekwondo techniqes to break boards, wood or bricks.
As well as these disciplines Taekwondo has a strong philosophical background and students are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner according to the tenets of Taekwondo.
